The 20th annual VSDA Convention, featuring the Home Entertainment Expo and DVD Festival 2001, is being held for the first time on dates that overlap with the annual Consumer Electronics Show, but has no formal affiliation with that event. The VSDA show, at the Sands Expo Center and Venetian Hotel January 7-9, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada, is owned by Home Entertainment Events (HEE), a joint venture of Advanstar Communications, Inc. and the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA). The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Las Vegas Hilton, among other locations, January 6-9, 2001, is owned by the Consumer Electronics Association. ""We want to clarify for attendees of both major events that although they are taking place concurrently for the first time, there is no affiliation between the two conventions,"" stated Bo Andersen, President of the Video Software Dealers Association and Chairman of HEE. ""We also want to make sure attendees are fully aware well in advance that registration fees and badges for either show can not be used for admission to the other show. We encourage attendees of both conventions to take advantage of the convenience of doing business at two critically important home entertainment trade shows in one trip."" Added Tracy Harris, Group Show Director of HEE at Advanstar, ""The overlapping shows offer video retailers a terrific opportunity to see what the hardware side of home entertainment has to offer in DVD and other emerging technologies. We also are encouraging CES attendees who have business interests in home entertainment to attend our international convention as well."" Held in Las Vegas at the state-of-the-art Sands Exposition Center/Venetian Hotel January 7-9, 2001, the VSDA Convention includes a full Education First! day on January 6 and features a full slate of in-depth educational seminars and chat rooms on a variety of video retailing topics based on the ""10 Steps To Success"" video store classification system, a program for successful video retailing created this year for the VSDA by management consultants Arthur Andersen. The VSDA Convention featuring the Home Entertainment Expo & DVD Festival 2001 features an all new Expo Floor with over 200 exhibitors, a full day of ""need-to-know"" business seminars before the convention opens, new DVD products galore, program suppliers, buyers from a broad range of storefront and online retailers, filmmakers of the future, digital-delivery decision makers, parties and other networking events, and plenty of other profitable opportunities. This is the only convention that brings the big business of home entertainment under one roof, at the spacious Sands Expo Center and Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.
