European DVD Forum Links Conference To DVD Europe 2001, London, April 2001

14-Dec-00

The DVD Forum and United Business Media (UBM) have confirmed that the next DVD Forum's Europe Conference will be held in London on April 18, 2001 at the Business Design Centre. This one-day event will lead directly into UBM's third annual DVD Europe Conference And Exhibition (DVD Europe 2001) which will be held over the following two days (April 19-20, 2001). ""This is a big opportunity to bring the professional DVD industry together at a single event in Europe,"" says UBM Entertainment Technology Group Publisher, Steve Haysom. The DVD Forum's annual European conferences play an important part in ensuring those working with DVD, from movie houses to equipment manufacturers, get the latest technological developments from the DVD Forum - DVD's ""governing"" body. UBM's annual DVD Europe conferences have been the most important independent DVD conferences for Europe, focusing on business and technical presentations, panels and discussions for the whole of the DVD industry, with speakers and delegates from all the major companies involved in developing the DVD business. The conference programs will include the latest format developments such as DVD-Video recording and DVD-Audio, and key presentations on DVD-Video, DVD creation, copy protection and production issues, as well as the developments in games, on-line delivery and new formats such as Super Density DVD, DataPlay and C3D. ""This is a big step forward for the DVD industry, as it focuses the whole DVD industry on a single DVD conference and exhibition event,"" comments Haysom. ""UBM has brought together the most experienced and knowledgeable team to ensure that the event and its exhibition fully serves the DVD industry. Now with the support of the DVD Forum and its founding members, such household names as Toshiba, Time Warner, Sony, Philips, Pioneer, Matsushita, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Hitachi, Thomson and JVC, London is the place to be in April if you are involved in any way in this massively expanding market."" Alongside the conference, UBM will again be presenting the DVD EuropA awards which recognize the contribution that designers, producers, authoring houses and publishers are making to the ""art"" of DVD and creating titles that make the most of DVD's unique functionality.
