The DVD Association's (DVDAís) International Conference & Expo will be held Sunday, February 18 through Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference will bring together DVD developers, DVD product manufacturers & suppliers, content owners and professional end users from around the world. Speakers and attendees will include new faces from other industries offering their ""outside-in"" perspectives on DVD. Social events include a ""Welcome To The World Of DVD"" reception in the Exhibit Hall on Sunday evening and the DVD Excellence Awards Banquet on Monday evening.Full conference registration includes entrance to all sessions, demos and presentations, Opening Reception and DVD Excellence Awards (two meals), Exhibit Hall, and open industry meetings. Pre-conference seminars are priced separately.Substantial discounts on conference registration, pre-conference seminars, exhibitor's fees and DVD Excellence Awards submissions are offered to DVDA members from all countries. ""Early birds"" registering by January 19 save even more, paying just $250 for the full conference. Non-DVDA members pay higher fees, but are very welcome to attend, exhibit or submit entries for the DVD Excellence Awards. Conference Sessions, running 90-minutes each, include a couple of surprise sessions plus: - The State Of DVD- DVD From Concept To Creation - Re-Purposing Content For DVD- Using DVD For Distance Learning, Tutorials, Testing And Unlockable Assets- Government & Institutional Dvds - WritableDVD Exhibit Hall activities will include presentations, demos and drawings. DVDA Corporate Sponsors at the $5000-or-higher level receive one free exhibit space plus one full conference pass or four complimentary full conference passes. Other DVDA members pay $500 per tabletop exhibit space, while non-members pay $1000 per tabletop exhibit. Pre-conference seminars are offered on Sunday from 9am-12pm and 1-4pm. Four different three-hour seminars are offered - ""Cool Menus & Neat Navigation,"" ""Connected DVD And The Web,"" ""Advanced Authoring Techniques"" and ""DVD Project Management."" The pre-conference seminars are not included in conference fees. ""The ABCs Of DVD"" is a free introduction to DVD session taught by Ralph LaBarge. This session is open to the public and is for anyone seeking a non-technical overview of DVD. ""Meet The Mentors"" during selected hours when DVD experts will be available to answer your individual questions about DVD. DVD Industry Meetings will be held on Sunday, February 18 and possibly on Monday or Tuesday. The DVDA General Assembly will be held at 5:45pm on Sunday, February 18. The Web Connected DVD Haiku Working Group will meet earlier that afternoon from 2:30-5pm (The Haiku group is the DVDA WebDVD Working Group.)
