Creating new ways to captivate an audience, Sony Electronics Inc. is turning on the style with the introduction of the PFM42B1 SuperSlimô monitor. Setting the latest design trend in flat panel displays with flexible horizontal or vertical viewing, Sonyís newest 42-inch (viewable area, measured diagonally) model is available in brushed silver or charcoal gray. It is ideal for retail or exhibit spaces, executive conference rooms, corporate lobbies, television broadcast studios and state-of-the-art home theatre environments. Sony originally introduced flat panel displays in early 1997 and received overwhelming acceptance of the units as multi-source information monitors, presentation monitors and wall-mounted video displays. The Sony SuperSlim flat panel monitor provides the same superior picture performance and lightweight, compact design as its predecessor model, the PFM510A2WU, but adds a new design that places the control panel and logo on an angle, enabling multiple-viewing options. ""The SuperSlim monitor is a bold new twist on image display,"" said Lisa Baldino, Marketing Manager of Display Systems for Sony Electronics Broadcast and Professional Company. ""With horizontal or vertical orientation, the unit can accommodate any display or presentation challenge. And, most importantly, the SuperSlim monitor provides a spectacular, high-resolution picture in a slim, lightweight package design."" Sonyís PFM42B1 features a 42-inch screen with a high resolution 1024 x 1024 pixel display that offers clear images and superb detail, with a 160-degree viewing angle. Users can change aspect ratios from standard 4:3 to widescreen 16:9 format to accommodate DVD presentations and widescreen broadcasts. The monitor is equipped with an advanced scan converter that can intelligently reproduce a wide range of digital video signals (including SDTV and HDTV) and UXGA computer signals. The new unit is merely 3 1/4 inches thick and weighing 65.5 lbs. Baldino believes that the SuperSlim monitor is well suited for environments with high traffic, space limitations or aesthetic considerations, since it can be mounted to the wall or ceiling with optional flat, tilt or rotating brackets that allow for easy conversion between horizontal and vertical orientations. Additional product benefits include a full-function remote, color temperature/dot phase adjustment to fine tune the image, and 20 video memory settings to store data for a wide range of video sources for quick recall to speed monitor setup. The SuperSlim flat panel monitors are now available through authorized Sony resellers for a suggested list price of $7,999. For more information, visit www.sony.com/displaysystems.
