2001 International CES Draws Impressive List Of First-Time Exhibitors

With exhibits from PC peripherals to set-top boxes, the 2001 CES will feature some of the hottest products in the consumer technology industry from more than 40 first-time exhibitors. The 2001 International CES will be held Saturday, January 6 through Tuesday, January 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. ""We're always pleased to welcome new companies to CES and this year's crop of first-time exhibitors is no exception,"" said Karen Chupka, Vice President of Events and Conferences for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), manager, sponsor and producer of CES. ""All of our new companies are exhibiting useful and innovative products. I think the freshman class of exhibitors at the 2001 CES is going to blow plenty of people away."" In the hot category of digital and Internet radio, iBiquity Digital Corp. will exhibit its digital radio and audio compression technology solutions, which allow the radio industry to offer high quality digital audio and wireless data services. Kerbango Inc. will showcase the world's first stand-alone Internet radio. First-time computer and information technology (IT) exhibitors will include Micronas Semi-Conductors Inc., which plans to exhibit several technologies, including its high definition television (HDTV), MP3 players and chips for use with iMacs and set-top boxes. As a provider of integrated residential broadband services in the United States, Telocity Inc. will promote its services that provide an ultra-fast Internet connection. Makers of low-power microprocessors for portable computers and Internet devices, Transmeta Corp. will exhibit its patented ""code morphing"" technology which uses software to translate instructions typically handled by transistors. First-time computer/IT exhibitor, U.S. Robotics, also will feature its modems and PC peripherals. Hand-held and wireless technology first-time exhibitors include Novatel Wireless and its latest wireless technology for hand-held devices. Parthus will be exhibiting its latest hand-held devices powered by Bluetoothô Technology in addition to its Internet-Audio technology, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) products and third generation (3G) applications. SMaL Camera will be showcasing its new imaging technology for hand-held devices, credit card-sized digital cameras and security video cameras. Among new exhibitors of home theatre and home systems products is BRIVO Systems, which will feature its latest product, the BRIVO Smart Box. The mid-size box can receive anything from packages to groceries when no one is available and is secured through use of a special code. Smart Box sends an instant notification to the recipient via e-mail, pager, phone or PDA when deliveries are received. CEIVA Logic Inc. also will be exhibiting its new digital picture frame that enables consumers to upload pictures taken with a digital camera and updates the frame with new photos everyday. Also exhibiting at the International CES for the first time, ZapMediaô, will showcase its set-top box devices that allow consumers to use a variety of media formats at anytime. EmTec Magnetics, formerly known as BASF Magnetics, will be promoting its high quality magnetic tape products.
