The Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) has announced a slate of twelve Home Entertainment Awards categories and 60 video nominations. The announcement was made by VSDA President Bo Andersen. Each year, the Video Software Dealers Association honors its regular membersí (retailers and distributors) favorite movies and programs available on home video. To be eligible for nomination, videos must have been released between April 1, 2000 and November 30, 2000. The 2001 award categories were determined by a nine-member committee of retailers, distributors and trade journalists who then selected five nominees in the twelve award categories. Title eligibility was verified by data provided by Muze, Inc. The nominating committee is chaired by Mark Vrieling of Rain City Video in Seattle, Washington. A new category this year is Foreign Language Film Of The Year. Winners will be determined by ballots which were mailed to all regular VSDA members. Winners will be honored at the opening General Session during the VSDA Convention featuring the Home Entertainment Expo & DVD Festival 2001, scheduled for January 7-9, 2001 at the Las Vegas Sands Expo Center/Venetian Hotel.
