The Best Of British Audio At The Alexis Park

Arcam, Acoustic Energy, dCS And Nottingham Analogue Debut New Products At The 2001 CES

2-Jan-01

Imported by Audiophile Systems, Ltd., four major British lines will be exhibiting in Building 23 of the Alexis Park. Arcam will be showing a dozen new components including two new standard-setting DVD players, the AVR100 home theatre receiver and a completely new range of integrated amplifiers and CD players. Acoustic Energy (AE) will launch their new Aesprit range of speakers, which complement their current high performance/value-priced Aegis Series. The Aesprit advances AE's metal cone technology and mates it with real wood cabinets. Also shown at CES will be the recently launched Aego sub/sat system, which, at $599 complete with all amplification, offers incredible performance in an ultra-compact form factor. dCS, well known for their Elgar DAC (and for radar systems used in military fighters) is out to stun both analog and digital fanatics with a preview of the Grieg. Named after the famous composer, the Grieg includes the upsampling capabilities of the dCS Purcell with a digital phono stage. Not only does this eliminate the need for a preamplifier, it also allows all RIAA equalization to be accomplished flawlessly within the digital domain at 24-bit/192kHz. As if that wasn't enough, dCS will also be demonstrating a new SACD transport. While Nottingham Analogue has been manufacturing turntables for forty years, they are new to the Audiophile Systems stable. You'll find their Interspace, Space, and Hyperspace turntables in use throughout the Audiophile Systems exhibit rooms.
