Analog Devices Announces DolbyÆ Pro Logic II Certification

32-bit Digital Audio Floating-Point SHARCÆ-Based DSP Also Decodes AAC, DolbyÆ Digital, Dolby Headphoneô And Dolby Pro LogicÆ

Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI) announced that its Melodyô audio decoder has been certified by DolbyÆ Laboratories to decode Dolby Pro Logic II, and is one of the industry's first chipsets certified for this Dolby Surround Pro LogicÆ decoding technology announced by Dolby on June 20, 2000. In addition to being one of the chipsets to deliver the benefits of Dolby Pro Logic II, the Analog Devices' Melody decoder chipset has previously been certified by Dolby Laboratories for 5.1-channel Dolby Digital, Dolby Headphoneô, AAC, MPEG-2, MLPô and four-channel Dolby Pro Logic available from DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, digital television (DTV), satellite, cable, VHS and LaserDisc. The Melody chipset also decodes two-channel stereo MP3 and MPEG-1 audio from CDs, the Internet and game consoles. The chipset features the ADSST-21065L SHARCÆ DSP, popular throughout high fidelity audio applications in professional and consumer electronics equipment, and the de facto industry standard for 32-bit digital audio. The Analog Devices' Melody decoder chipset features a 32-bit, floating-point implementation of the Dolby Pro Logic II format and is currently available. The Melody decoder includes bass management and delay routines, as well as a user-variable delay for all the channels for both the Pro Logic emulation and movie modes specified by the Dolby Pro Logic II specification. The Melody decoder is available as either a chipset and software, or the ADSST-PEGASUS-SDK reference design, which includes an evaluation board, evaluation copy of the software and schematics, and is priced in single quantities at $1,750.
