Definitive Technologyís most significant new product introduction ever focuses on home theatre, custom install and multimedia speakers. Highlighting the intro is the new PowerMonitorô Series of ultra high-performance bookshelf speaker systems, the first ever with built-in powered subwoofers. These speakers were developed in response to tremendous dealer and consumer demand for custom-installable upscale high performance music and home theatre bookshelf-sized speakers which could be easily placed in cabinets, on stands or on shelves. With their state-of-the-art Definitive components, low diffraction monocoque cabinets and built-in side firing powered subwoofers, the PowerMonitors dramatically outperform all other bookshelf-sized speaker systems regardless of price. There are three PowerMonitors, the PowerMonitor 500, with a 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeter, 4 1/2-inch cast-basket upper-bass/midrange and 150 watt powered 8-inch subwoofer at $425 each, the PowerMonitor 700, with a 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeter, 5 1/4-inch cast-basket upper-bass/midrange and 250 watt powered 8-inch subwoofer at $599 each, and the top-of-the-line PowerMonitor 900, with a 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeter, 6 1/2-inch cast-basket upper-bass/midrange and a 250 watt powered 10-inch subwoofer at $799 each. All three feature Definitive's signature designer styling with piano gloss black top and bottom and wraparound black grill. The tops and bottoms are completely finished so that the PowerMonitors can be attractively positioned either vertically or horizontally, and they can be located with the subwoofer as close as one inch from a wall or panel. All are magnetically shielded and incorporate Definitive's Infinite Power Source amplifier technology.The PowerMonitors can be used as a stereo pair for music applications or combined (with or without a separate LFE channel subwoofer) with a matching Definitive center channel loudspeaker (also available with built-in powered subwoofers), plus a pair of matching Definitive surrounds for the ultimate hideaway stealth home theatre speaker system. The difference the built-in powered subwoofers make in terms of allowing true full frequency range/full dynamic range performance on every channel across the front soundstage, with the resulting improvement in imaging, impact, blending, richness and clarity is dramatic. This level of performance is absolutely unattainable with conventional passive speakers, even in combination with a separate powered subwoofer.
