Planetweb Provides Internet Software For Zoran's Vaddis V DVD Solution

PlanetwebÆ, a leader in open systems software solutions for the Internet appliance market, has been selected by ZoranÆ Corporation (NASDAQ: ZRAN) to demonstrate the Internet connectivity of Zoran's new VaddisÆ V Advanced DVD Multimedia Processor for enabling consumer devices that support DVD-Video playback, the DVD-Audio standard and Web browsing. Planetweb and Zoran will be demonstrating their products at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 6-9, 2001 in booth numbers 5635 and M-31247, respectively. Zoran has been working with Planetweb and their advanced Internet software to deliver Internet-enabled DVD on the Vaddis V platform. Web browsing on the Vaddis V takes advantage of the embedded CPU and hardware accelerators, including an on-chip graphics accelerator and 135 MIPS DSP. An embedded hardware graphics accelerator off-loads the CPU for responsive Web browsing. DSP acceleration for JPEG decoding enables digital image browsing applications enhanced with the Planetweb browser. The Vaddis V has integrated hardware de-flicker filtering for optimal presentation of text and Web user interfaces on a television screen.
