ZoranÆ Corporation, a provider of digital solutions-on-a-chip for the multimedia and consumer electronics markets, announced that the VaddisÆ III DVD Decoder IC is used in Orion's new 14-inch TV/DVD combo unit, model TV/DVD 1450 and standalone DVD-Video player, model WT-DVD400.The Vaddis DVD Decoder IC incorporates Zoran patented technology, allowing it to deliver full-featured DVD playback with a single 16MB SDRAM, half of the memory required by competing solutions. These two new models are the first in Orion's extensive new line of TV/DVD combo units and standalone DVD players using Vaddis DVD decoders. Zoran's interpolative scaling algorithm, ZoranZoom, allows the user to zoom in while preserving the sharpness of the image. The TV/DVD 1450 supports high quality audio output to external speakers through either S/PDIF or analog outputs.Orion's Model WT-DVD400 standalone DVD-Video player is built upon Zoran's Vaddis III DVD Decoder IC and the Vaddis CompanionCPU. This model incorporates the same advanced DVD player features as the Model TV/DVD 1450. The recently announced Vaddis CompanionCPU is highly integrated, consisting of a 32-bit RISC CPU, 510KB of flash memory and embedded SRAM. The embedded Flash memory stores the entire DVD player program code, while the embedded SRAM eliminates the need for additional external CPU memories.
