Dynaudio Evidence Temptation World Premiere Held During 2001 CES

It was exactly two years ago during the 1999 CES in Las Vegas that Dynaudio launched its flagship Evidence model. Since its introduction, the Master Evidence has established its position as a reference standard in terms of loudspeaker technology and performance throughout the world, gaining awards and accolades everywhere from the United States, to France, Italy, Germany and Japan. As a follow up to this great achievement, during the 2001 CES Dynaudio premiered the smaller sibling, the Evidence Temptation.The new Evidence Temptation follows the same design concept as the larger ""Master"" model. The center section of the speaker utilizes a massive 40-mm thick, CNC-machined, solid aluminum baffle into which the tweeters and midranges are integrated. The high mechanical precision of the driver mounting, in combination with the high mass of the baffle material, allows the perfect reproduction of every dynamic detail in the high/midrange band. The tweeter domes are physically protected by a 1-mm thin titanium wire which has no effect on the sound whatsoever. Like the Master model, the driver configuration of the Evidence Temptation is totally symmetrical with two 28-mm tweeters (positioned one atop the other in the center), two 15-cm midrange drivers (one each above and below the tweeters) and four 17-cm bass drivers (two each at the top and bottom sections of the cabinet enclosure). The core strength of this system of course is the state-of-the-art Dynaudio driver technology. Due to the use of smaller-sized bass drivers, the cabinet of the Temptation is much thinner and not as tall as that of the Master Evidence. In total, the Temptation offers a very slim and elegant appearance without making any compromises in deep bass performance. The four bass drivers are specifically designed for optimized performance in this particular cabinet concept, and due to the low mass of the moving systems they offer an extremely fast response. In total, the bass driversí four 75-mm (3-inch) wide, long-throw aluminum voice coils produce an incredibly high dynamic output. The front baffle is made out of 40-mm thick HDF (high density fiber-board) and the walls are extremely well damped through Dynaudioís multi-layered sandwich construction technology to avoid cabinet resonance.The symmetric driver array, in combination with Dynaudioís advanced crossover filter technology, provides the speakers a greatly reduced vertical dispersion. Therefore, less energy is transferred to the floor and ceiling, thus eliminating any reflections or cancellations off of these boundaries, making the Temptation (in the same manner as the Master Evidence) much less dependent upon room acoustics and listening position as compared to any other high end loudspeakers.The Temptationís three individual cabinet sections are mechanically bolted together, and the speaker is pre-assembled into one enclosure. The middle section is divided into two parts - one provides the air volume for the midrange drivers, while the other houses the crossover. The cabinet is finished in the same manner as the Master model, with glossy black piano black lacquered side panels on the aluminum mid-section, and a choice of exquisitely hand crafted Birdís Eye Maple or Rosewood veneer top and bottom sections. The Evidence Temptation is mounted onto a massive bottom plate with an adjustable spike assembly as in the Master model.The cabinet section housing the crossover is specifically vented to maintain a stable operating temperature for all components, even when the speakers are listened to at high volume levels over an extended period of time. The sectionís back plate is made of a non-magnetic aluminum alloy. The crossover components are soldered onto a double-thick, glass-fiber reinforced PCB (printed circuit board) utilizing extra-thick copper traces. The impedance corrected crossover design of the Evidence Temptation utilizes low-loss dielectric capacitors, zero-compression resistors and OFC (oxygen-free copper) cable throughout.The new Evidence Temptation embodies much of the same advanced technical prowess and elegant aesthetic attributes of the Master, while advancing the state of the art in dynamic transducer technology and performance in its class. The Temptation is poised to establish its own benchmark status in the tradition of its Evidence Master brethren.
