An expanded lineup of new DVD players from AIWA includes five-disc changers, DVD-Audio capability and three models that offer playback of MP3-encoded CDs.A new five-disc changer is the XD-DV550M, featuring a 96kHz/24-bit audio D/A converter, MP3-encoded CD playback, component, S-Video and composite video outputs, 10-bit D/A converter, parental lock, multi-language on-screen display, multi-angle and multi-aspect ratio playback, and remote control. It will be available in the summer at a suggested retail price of $350.At a suggested retail price of $260.00, AIWA offers the new XD-DV380, a single-disc player with a 96kHz/24-bit audio D/A converter, MP3-encoded CD playback, component, S-Video and composite video outputs, 10-bit video D/A converter, parental lock, multi-language on-screen display, multi-angle and multi-aspect ratio playback and remote control. It will be available this summer.AIWA also has plans to launch a second five-disc changer in the fall with DVD-Audio playback. Pricing will be announced at that time.For those looking for a multi-purpose player, AIWA will continue to offer the XD-DV170, a small, lightweight player that offers AC/DC operation. The unit is ideal for consumers who might want a player thatís easily moved from one TV to another, or from one house to another - a vacation home, for example. Whatís more, the DC power option allows the unit to be used in a vehicle using an external monitor. Available as an option is an adapter to power the unit thorough a carís accessory power outlet.The XD-DV170 plays DVDs, CDs, CD-R/RWs and VCDs. It includes a 96kHz/24-bit audio D/A converter and a 10-bit video D/A converter. Thereís an optical digital output, one set of analog RCA outputs plus one S-Video and one composite video output. Other features include Q Surround for creating surround sound effects from two audio channels, multi-language on-screen display and a remote control.
