18-Jan-01

Multiplex Technology, Inc., a leading manufacturer and designer of high performance, multi-room video, data and telecommunication distribution equipment for home automation and entertainment, announced an agreement with Crestron Electronics, a leading designer and manufacturer of control and automation systems, in which the two companies will market and sell each other's structured wire solutions to the residential marketplace. The agreement has commenced with the development of a mounting bracket for Multiplex's OpenHouseÆ patented home networking system, which will incorporate Crestron's family of ST and CN solutions into the OpenHouse grid structure. As a result, Crestron's keypad and wireless touchpad systems are easily incorporated into the OpenHouse enclosure, allowing homeowners to enjoy a truly automated living environment. Now, with just a touch of a button, users can control most any device in their home. ""We are committed to providing a variety of technologically-advanced networking solutions to homeowners,"" noted Tom Paterniti, Vice President, Multiplex Technology, Inc. ""Crestron has been a long-time leader in innovative control systems and our newly-formed relationship fully supports our ongoing commitment."" As a result of the agreement, OpenHouse is the newest member of Crestron's I2P (Internet Industry Partnership) program, which is designed to allow partner manufacturers' products to operate seamlessly in a Crestron systems environment. In turn, Crestron has joined the OpenHouse consortium, which provides products to fit the structured wire grid. ""We are happy to have OpenHouse as the newest member of the Crestron I2P family,"" said Chris Wildfoerster, Business Development Manager, Crestron Electronics. ""Together, we will aggressively market to increase the awareness level of home networking solutions."" Integrating entertainment, communications, safety and automation products, OpenHouse provides homeowners with a state-of-the art, technologically advanced living environment. More and more buyers are asking for homes that can support the latest technology, from cable modems for high speed Internet access to advanced telecommuting capabilities. OpenHouse provides a complete range of structured wire products, which enable homeowners to enjoy the newest technology at home. The basic OpenHouse system includes an advanced network built into the walls and a residential gateway that serves as the central hub for the voice, video, data and communication electronics. Through attractive wall plates, this network connects all the rooms in a house together. For example, with the appropriate modules, OpenHouse enables homeowners to telecommute from any room with multi-line phone access, watch all video sources from any TV in the house, listen to the family room CD player while relaxing in the tub, or monitor a baby's nap from any room with a television.
