Rotel, the award-winning manufacturer of both high fidelity and home theatre components, announces the introduction of several new power amplifiers designed to the company's demanding Balanced Design Concept standard. According to Michael Bartlett, Rotel's Vice Presdient and General Manager, these new amplifiers have evolved from the classic Rotel design, but have been substantially updated to deliver new performance levels to a wide variety of customers. ""Rotel products must satisfy three audiences,"" said Bartlett, ""the traditional two-channel oriented audiophile, the multichannel enthusiast and the custom installer. Although each group has its own priorities, all depend upon Rotel for the same level of performance. That's why we spend as much time as we do making sure that each amplifier is both an example of our Balanced Design Concept and perfectly suited for its intended use. Although this sounds easy enough to do, it really isn't, and that's where Rotel's four decades of design experience, our own factories and our ability to really listen to customer requests come into their own."" Rotel introduces three new two-channel amplifiers - the RB-1050, RB-1070 and RB-1080. The two-channel RB-1080 features power output of 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The Rotel-made Torroidal transformer feeds separate power supplies for each channel. British-made BHC Slit Foil storage capacitors provide quick charge/discharge times for instantaneous response to the most demanding signal peaks. With a damping factor of 1,000 at 8 ohms, this amplifier has the unparalleled ability to lock onto the most difficult speakers to precisely control diaphragm motion and provide superior sound quality. Heavy-duty binding posts encourage the use of the most advanced speaker cables, while switchable balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs provide extraordinary system configuration flexibility. Front panel heat sinks add a strikingly dramatic look. Separate inputs and outputs for 12-volt ""trigger"" signals and a detachable AC cord make this amplifier well suited for custom-installed systems with total remote control capability. The newest interpretation of a classic Rotel award-winning power amplifier, the two-channel RB-1070 continues the tradition of an oversized Torroidal transformer and high capacity power supply. In addition, Symmetrical Signal Trace circuit topology assures the precise interchannel timing cues necessary for pinpoint stereo reproduction. At 130 watts per channel, the RB-1070 is more than capable of meeting the challenges of even the least efficient loudspeakers. An internal bridge option provides truly prodigious 360- watt output capability. Front-panel LED status indicators show power, protection and bridged mode for instant system analysis. A separate input and output for 12-volt ""trigger"" signals and detachable AC cord increase this amplifier's flexibility by allowing total integration with even the most complex remote-controlled systems. Designed for demanding use in custom installations, the ultra-stable RB-1050 combines audiophile sound quality and ""bulletproof"" circuitry for long, trouble-free operation. In stereo mode, the RB-1050 develops 65 watts per channel. Individual input gain at each input and ""auto-on"" signal-sensing circuitry allow system matching with a variety of distribution devices or processors. In addition, daisy-chain outputs allow multiple amplifiers to play from a single source for increased flexibility. As with all Rotel power amplifiers, the Torroid-based power supply and high damping factor ensure precise control of even the most difficult speakers. An input and output for 12-volt ""trigger"" signals and a detachable AC cord make this amplifier ideal for many audio systems. An informative yet discrete front-panel LED array shows bridged operation, clipping and protection modes for quick system analysis when needed. Multichannel devotees have a wide range of new products to draw on also. The RMB-1075 is THXĆ-certified and delivers 120 watts RMS x 5 (all channels driven into 8 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, with no more than 0.03% THD) thanks to a power supply composed of a generous Rotel-built 1.5-kVA Torroid transformer and eight 10,000-µF British-made Slit Foil capacitors. 20 output devices, each rated for 130 watts and 15 amperes of current capability, make full use of the supply's potential. The RMB-1075's generous headroom and state of the art signal-to-noise measurements ensure unsullied reproduction of the most dynamic as well as the most delicate sonic nuances. Complete with gold plated RCA and DB-25 input connectors, the RMB-1075 is ideally suited for either home theatre applications or bi-amped systems optimized for music reproduction. Separate 12-volt ""trigger"" input and output jacks make this amplifier well-suited for fully integrated systems with total remote control capability. The RB-976, an enormously flexible six-channel amplifier, is intended for use in multichannel surround and custom-installed systems. It delivers high power in a variety of configurations. The newly-revised power supply and output circuits add even more reserve capability and stability. In six-channel mode, the RB-976 delivers 60 watts per channel (all channels driven, 20Hz to 20kHz @ 0.03% THD into 8 ohms). In five- channel mode (one channel quiescent), power increases to 70 watts RMS each measured by the same demanding standards. Amplifier pairs can be bridged to develop 150 watts x 3 for almost half a kilowatt of output power. Three rear panel switches (one two-way and two three-way) make bridging easy and also link the inputs via internal ""daisy chain"" connections with a single source, thus simplifying system wiring. Front panel input level controls and an extensive nine LED indicator array ease system adjustment and monitoring. A 12-volt trigger circuit makes remote on/off control exceptionally easy.
