NEC Technologies Announces 50-Inch Plasma Monitor with XGA, Split Screen

22-Jan-01

NEC Technologies Inc. announced availability of the 50-inch XGA resolution plasma display designed for multimedia presentation and business communication applications. The PlasmaSync 50MP1 is for conference room and boardroom presentations, videoconferencing suites, training facilities and broadcast production/editing/playback facilities. The high native resolution is also suited to control rooms and rental and staging applications as well as network operation centers and engineering visualization, design and presentation uses. NEC Technologies' plasma displays won the PresentationMaster.com and KNews Best Of 2000 Best Monitor Innovation Award and the PlasmaSync 50MP1 continues this trend, offering the highest native panel resolution currently available in a 50-inch XGA monitor at 1365 x 768 pixels. This higher resolution allows users to display more information on screen. NEC says the display also has superior image quality attributable to NEC's Capsulated Color Filter technology, which delivers realistic color reproduction, and to AccuBlend scan conversion technology, which enables sharp display of high resolution images up to UXGA. In addition, the 50MP1 features advanced video signal processing, including a motion-compensated 3-D scan converter and a 2/3 pull-down converter for smooth, lifelike video. Other features built into the PlasmaSync 50MP1 include: - Split screen multi-source display capability: the 50MP1 features a split screen function that allows the simultaneous display of multiple sources on-screen. The monitor offers several split screen and picture-in-picture display options and enables users to display 4:3 and 16:9 images concurrently. - Broad source compatibility: the 50MP1 can accommodate composite, component and S-Video as well as HDTV and computer graphics standards up to UXGA. - Multimedia capability with muilt-in stereo audio: the PlasmaSync 50MP1 includes an internal stereo amplifier and optional attachable speakers that match the monitor's cabinet design. - AccuShield phosphor protection: this technology provides built-in support for minimizing phosphor burn, which can occur in any phosphor-based display device. It includes an Inverse Mode that can be selected to display inverted RGB color values, evening the amount of wear on the screen's phosphor and reducing the visibility of retained images. The PlasmaSync 50MP1 has a 3x digital zoom feature which enables presenters to select an area of the screen and enlarge it up to 300 percent, making even the smallest text visible to an entire room. The display also operates with an unobtrusive 26dB of fan noise and can be controlled directly via its front bezel controls as well as by its ergonomically designed remote. Additionally, the PlasmaSync 50MP1 comes equipped with a DVI input. The PlasmaSync 50MP1 display is available now. The suggested retail price of the plasma monitor is $18,995.
