Designed for areas where listeners will be moving about, Sonance, the Leader in Architectural Audioô introduced two new Single Stereo Technology round speakers. Part of the Symphony line of speakers, the 621SSTR and the 623SSTR in-ceiling speakers provide stereo from one speaker, ensuring balanced sound regardless of where the listener is located in the room. With the addition of Sonanceís new speakers, listeners can now enjoy stereo throughout the home - not just in certain areas.Unlike other single mono speakers that combine the inputs, the SSTR line reproduces both the left and right channel signals, resulting in a single speaker that provides full, true stereo fidelity. Ideal for the kitchen, bathroom and hallways, Sonance alleviates the uneven sound that listeners hear when they move about a room with traditionally configured speakers. Whether walking down a hallway or dashing between the stove and the sink in the kitchen, the SSTR line will always generate a high quality, balanced stereo sound for the listener. ""With the introduction of these phenomenal Single Stereo Technology speakers, Sonance is enabling consumers to have high fidelity sound applied for maximum enjoyment,"" said Chip Brown, Chief Operating Officer, Sonance. ""In an area where two speakers are playing conventional stereo out of left and right speakers, when people move about, stereo sound is difficult to enjoy because the listeners are usually located closer to one or the other speakers only hearing one of the two stereo channels. The Sonance SSTR speakers now enable consumers to experience stereo fidelity even if they are right next to the speaker.""The SSTR speakers feature two tweeters mounted at offset angles. While each tweeter receives a left or right signal, the woofer receives both signals, a design that generates stereo performance from a single speaker. The speakerís round design provide consumers more installation options, as they may direct the tweeters as needed for the application before locking the speaker into place. While the 621SSTRís tweeters are fixed, the tweeters in 623SSTR pivot to offer even more installation flexibility. The 623SSTR features 1-inch pivoting cloth dome tweeters and a 6.5-inch dual voice coil woofer with a black glass composite cone and a rubber surround. It handles 5 to 100 watts with an efficiency of 89dB (at 1 watt/1m) and has a frequency response of 40Hz-20kHz +/-3dB. Its impedance is 6 ohms nominal and 4 ohms minimum. Also included is a mono/stereo jumper for even more flexibility in system applications. A metal/cloth grill covers the speaker. The 621SSTR has two 3/4-inch cloth dome tweeters and a 6.5-inch dual voice coil woofer with a black polypropylene cone and a rubber surround. The efficiency of the speaker, which handles 5 to 50 watts of power, is 88dB (at 1 watt/1m). Its impedance is 8 ohms nominal and 6 ohms minimum, and the frequency response is 55Hz-20kHz +/-3dB. The speaker is covered by a metal grill, and optional cloth grills are available. The same footprint as the Symphony 6.5-inch round, the SSTR series are easy to install, making them the premier choice for premium sound in a multitude of applications. Available in the first quarter of 2001, the 621SSTR series retails for $200 each and the 623SSTR retails for $300 each. For more information, visit Sonance on the Web at www.sonance.com.
