Upgraded Line Of Philips Direct-View Monitors Combine HDTV Technology With Elegance And Style

New 30 And 34-Inch Direct-View HDTV Digital Widescreen Monitors Unveiled At CES

An upgraded line of direct-view HDTV monitors from Philips Consumer Electronics was unveiled at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), featuring 30 and 34-inch direct-view monitors that combine state-of-the-art imaging with advanced design and sophisticated style. The 30 (30PW9817) and 34-inch (34PW9817) models are capable of displaying the highest quality digital television signals and contain a Real Flatô picture tube. These televisions also incorporate Digital Natural Motion, Philipsí proprietary processing technology, which corrects juddering from video movement and produces crisp, smooth detail and a non-flickering, sharp picture. In addition, these models also include a 3D Y/C digital comb filter, which further improves picture quality and clarity. ""Our upgraded line of HDTV direct-view monitors further emphasizes Philips commitment to providing the most advanced technology with high style and space in mind,"" said Des Power, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Television, Philips Consumer Electronics, North America. ""These monitors are top-of-the-line in home theatre viewing, providing the same cinematic quality with a touch of elegance and sophistication."" Philips direct view HDTV monitors utilize Real Flat picture tubes that create an undistorted, crisp image when receiving digital and analog signals. Progressive scan, line doubling, and Active Control features round out the home theatre experience. All feature distinct designs, giving consumers more options to complement any home decor. The 30PW9817 and 34PW9817 feature a sleek, silver widescreen display. A second 34-inch model (34PW9847) has a black high gloss finish and includes a matching stand with an integrated analog clock, as well as the popular Philips Pronto universal touch screen remote control. Philips direct view HDTV monitors also contain more conventional features such as two tuner picture-in-picture with double window and an intuitive Navitrackô Graphical User Interface. The 34-inch HDTV monitor with black high gloss finish has a suggested retail price of $4,999, which includes the matching TV stand and a Pronto remote control package. The silver finish 34-inch set (34PW9817) is priced at $3,999 (MSRP) and the 30-inch (30PW9817) at $2,999 (MSRP). All will be available in the second quarter 2001.
