Philips Consumer Electronics displayed its latest direct-view HDTV monitors with Real Flatô picture tubes at CES. The new 32 (32PT8419) and 27-inch (27PT8419) monitors utilize the latest in Philips technology to present a superior 4:3 image, and offer consumers a more affordable option for experiencing digital television. Both monitors offer full connectivity with most set-top boxes and include the Real Flat picture tube. In addition, the monitors process incoming signals through a line doubler and display them in the progressive scan mode for a flicker-free and film-like viewing experience. Both sets include HD component inputs for high definition 1080i input. ""We developed the new 27-inch and 32-inch direct-view HDTV monitors with Real Flat picture tubes to offer consumers digital television at an affordable price point,"" said Des Power, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Television, Philips Consumer Electronics, North America. For additional image enhancement, both sets are capable of 1080i or 480p resolution. They also include 3D Y/C digital comb filters that utilize spatial and temporal filtering to improve diagonal resolution. Side and rear panel connections include two S-Video inputs, a component video input, 2Fh input as well as composite inputs and outputs for video and audio. These HDTV monitors also include Double Window Two-Tuner PIP, Active Control, Virtual DolbyÆ Surround and a universal remote control.
