Philips Consumer Electronics showcased its new ultra slim design line of DVD-Video players at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Featuring playback of DVD-Video, CD, CD-R/RW, VCD, SVCD and MP3 CDs, the Philips DVD Q40 and DVD Q50 are leading-edge in terms of both design and performance. The newest members of Philipsí DVD family offer a variety of state-of-the-art features, including built-in DolbyÆ Digital and DTSÆ Digital Surroundô decoding, dual-discrete laser pickup and Philipsí parental control feature. With a new stylish silver design and a clean, easy-to-use interface, this new line of Philips DVD players truly stands out from the rest. In addition, both the DVD Q40 and DVD Q50 feature a component video output, Smart Pictureô, Smart Powerô, video and black level shifts, and a bit rate indicator. By utilizing aluminum and glass in the elegant design and structure of these players, Philips gives style-conscious consumers a unique, high-performance alternative to a standard black component. The DVD Q50 combines the ultra-slim design with state-of-the-art progressive scan and a sophisticated Motion Correction System (DCDiô chip by Faroudja), which optimizes and corrects for artifacts, resulting in razor-sharp picture performance. Progressive scan output, 54MHz/12-bit video processing, 192kHz/24-bit audio and Digital Crystal Clearô also are included in the DVD Q50.
