SpeakerCraft Announces A New Lineup For The Successful CRS In-Ceiling Series

Timbre-Matched With The MT Series Makes Sophisticated Mixing And Matching Possible

14-Feb-01

SpeakerCraft, the worldís largest manufacturer of architectural speakers and other custom installation products, announced they have upgraded the highly successful CRS Series In-Ceiling Speakers at the 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show. Considered an industry standard, this is the first major change in six years for the CRS Series. All four new models, the CRS ONE, CRS TWO, CRS THREE and CRS FOUR feature SpeakerCraftís exclusive WavePlaneô technology, advancing the performance of coaxial speakers by providing a solid surface for tweeter reflections, delivering clear, balanced high frequencies directly to the listener. The WavePlane has been modified in the new series to ensure a 97 percent solid plane for the tweeter with an 80 percent open area for the woofer, resulting in a broader sweet spot for the upper frequencies and greater bass response. Bringing audiophile standards into the custom install market, the CRS speakers are timbre-matched with the upgraded MT series, making it possible to mix in-wall and in-ceiling speakers for a coherent and balanced 5.1 sound system. All models are outfitted with a new filleted Butyl rubber surround on the woofers. The CRS ONE consist of a 1-inch silk dome tweeter and a new 6.5-inch polypropylene woofer that has greater excursion, resulting in a more efficient speaker with superior bass.. The larger voice coil allows the CRS ONE to handle up to 100 watts. Using the same 1-inch silk dome tweeter, the CRS TWO uses a 6.5-inch woofer made of a glass fiber composite with a Butyl rubber surround. The stiffer and lighter material results in a more pleasing and accurate mid-range. Power handling for the CRS TWO is rated at 120 watts. The CRS THREE represents a significant upgrade with a 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter and a 6.5-inch aluminum woofer. The ultra-light cone material used on both drivers ensures a smooth and precise frequency response. Power handling for the CRS THREE is rated at 125 watts. The CRS FOUR uses the stiffest possible cone material of anodized magnesium/aluminum for both the 1-inch dome tweeter and 6.5-inch woofer. Using the largest voice coil in the series, the CRS FOUR is capable of handling in excess of 150 watts. A high quality toggle switch is available on all models, except the CRS ONE, at the edge of the speaker casing which will change the frequency response between flat, +3dB and -3dB on both drivers. The external switch makes it possible for installers to make the proper adjustments after installation, unlike some competitorsí models that provide a simple toggle switch on the back of the speaker, requiring the installer to guess the best position prior to installation. All CRS In-Ceiling Speakers are 100 percent weather resistant and offer a lifetime warranty. All CRS models will ship in the second quarter of 2001. Model, Suggested Retail Price CRS ONE, $299 CRS TWO, $399 CRS THREE, $499 CRS FOUR, $699 For more information about SpeakerCraft, visit www.speakercraft.com.
