Toshiba, a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced digital video technologies, introduced its first-ever 50-inch widescreen plasma display television, the super-thin HDTV-compatible 50HP81, at the 2001 CES.Designed to deliver large-screen home theatre images of unprecedented clarity, contrast and brightness, the 50HP81 is housed in a cabinet that's less than four inches thick. Its ultra-thin depth makes it ideal for hanging on the wall, or placement anywhere conventional television sets will not fit. Additionally, because the 50HP81 is impervious to magnetic fields, it can be placed in close proximity to loudspeakers or other electronics components in a home theatre system. Equipped with composite video inputs and outputs, as well as S-Video, ColorStream HDô component video and RGB inputs, the 50HP81 is ideal for use as the centerpiece of any home entertainment system.The Toshiba 50HP81 utilizes a 1366 x 768 (WXGA) pixel array to display video images of exceptional sharpness, with brightness of more than 500cd/m2, and a contrast ratio of over 2000:1. It is fully HDTV-compatible and displays a native 720p progressive scan image.
