Marantz Introduces Its Biggest Plasma Display Monitor Ever: The New Widescreen 50-Inch PD5010D

21-Feb-01

Marantz America announced the introduction of its PD5010D Widescreen Plasma Monitor, its biggest plasma monitor ever featuring a super-large 50-inch widescreen (16:9) display panel. The PD5010D delivers images of superlative clarity, contrast and brightness, thanks to exclusive image enhancement technologies such as special pixel color filtration and masking for optimum color reproduction, ""intelligent"" video scaling and many additional refinements. Getting The Big Picture The new Marantz PD5010D delivers incredible big screen impact in home theatre installations, for business presentations and in commercial applications. The PD5010D utilizes a 1365 x 768 pixel array to display video images of exceptional sharpness, with greater than 16 million-color resolution. The PD5010D is compatible with virtually every digital and analog video display device, and can operate in either native progressive scan mode or upconvert video sources, depending on the signal source. The PD5010D is DTV-ready and can display a native 480p or 720p progressive scan image from a DVD-Video player, HDTV set-top box or computer, 1080i HDTV images from an HDTV set-top box or other HDTV sources, or an upconverted image from any NTSC source. The PD5010D can also display images from a PC or Macintosh computer up to UXGA resolution, and automatically scales or upconverts video sources as necessary. The Marantz PD5010D includes a wealth of advanced image enhancement technologies to deliver extraordinary plasma TV picture quality. Its plasma panel features a series of red, green and blue filters embedded within the front glass that reduce undesirable light emissions from the individual pixels, for a more realistic color balance. Its automatic/manual color temperature enables the user to adjust the monitor to three preset color temperatures including the NTSC standard 6500 degrees, or choose a customized setting. The PD5010D's innovative ""intelligent"" scan conversion utilizes advanced pixel mapping technology that displays scaled images with exceptional clarity and image stability. Multi-Source Display Versatility The PD5010D can display the output from a broad range of digital or analog video program sources, and includes HD component video, component video, S-Video and composite video connections, as well as one digital and two analog RGB inputs. The PD5010D is compatible with NTSC, PAL and SECAM formats. For maximum viewing flexibility, the PD5010D provides a choice of aspect ratio modes for viewing standard 4:3 format and 16:9 widescreen program material with the highest-possible image quality. All key functions as well as video and audio adjustments are easily accessible via the PD5010D's intuitive on-screen menu, which is accessed using the supplied Marantz RC2000mkII Programmable Learning Remote Control. The RC2000mkII can also learn the codes of every component in an A/V system for total system control. Although it's Marantz's biggest plasma monitor ever, the PD5010D houses its massive 50-inch screen in a slim profile chassis just over four inches deep. This thin depth allows installation options never before possible, such as hanging on a wall, or from a ceiling or mounted on a stand (using optional available mounting brackets or stands), enabling placement where conventional TVs cannot be accommodated. Because plasma TV does not use electron beams, as conventional CRT displays do, the PD5010D is impervious to magnetic fields, allowing placement in close proximity to any type of loudspeaker or electronics with no possibility of image distortion. The Marantz PD5010D carries a suggested retail price of $20.999 and is now shipping. For more information, visit Marantz America on the Web at www.marantz.com.
