The device provides protection of up to 65,000 peak amps of surge current. Its advanced circuitry features a single, large 53mm MOV per line. This provides a higher energy capacity than typical multiple small MOV configurations where energy capacity is limited by the weakest MOV in the chain. The rugged housing on the device is constructed of high impact, non-conductive fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate. LEDs on the device indicate that surge protection is either active or no longer active.  Levitonís Multimedia Residential Surge Suppression Panel-Mount Device provides surge protection for utility AC power lines, telephone and cable/satellite TV systems. The multimedia unit utilizes conventional RJ-11 connectors and type F connectors for cable/satellite TV systems. Real-time diagnostic LED indicators show protection status for AC line. Loss of CATV/satellite or telephone signal indicates the need for replacement of the low voltage surge protection modules for these lines.
