EdgeAudioô Earns Editorsí Choice Award From The Perfect Vision

1-Mar-01

Among the recently announced winners in the first annual The Perfect Vision Editorsí Choice Awards was the EdgeAudioô SW12/320 powered subwoofer, named by the magazine as the best subwoofer for under $750. The awards, from one of the leading home theatre enthusiast publications, are given to products that are standouts in their respective categories. The winners, according to the publication, were selected ""because of their exceptional performance, value, or technological innovation - or because of a blend of these virtues."" In naming the EdgeAudio SW12/320 an award winner, the publicationís editors cited reviewer Tom Millerís description of the unit as ""the gem of the system"" in his review of a complete EdgeAudio 5.1-channel speaker system, and his observation that the subwoofer produces ""a big juicy bass sound with just enough heft to convincingly mimic true low bass."" The award winners were announced in the March/April 2001 issue of The Perfect Vision. The EdgeAudio SW12/320 powered subwoofer is a front-firing design with 320 watts of power driving a 12-inch long-throw woofer. The driver is housed in a 1-inch thick cabinet in a choice of hardwood finishes. Capable of reproducing the lower octaves with accuracy, power and definition, the sub can load a large listening room with tremendous force to deliver the realism that makes for great movie viewing. It has both speaker-level and line-level inputs, and a variable crossover. Frequency response is 28-120Hz +/-3dB and rated sensitivity is 90.8dB. Crossed over at the recommended 85Hz, the SW12/320 integrates seamlessly with the 502D satellite speakers. The SW12/320 measures 20 (H) x 15 (W) x 20 (D) inches and weighs 65 to 72 pounds (varies by type of wood). Available exclusively through the Internet at www.edgeaudio.com and other selected online merchants, including Amazon.com and eCost.com the EdgeAudio line also includes the 502D Series satellite speakers and an eight-inch, 150-watt powered subwoofer, the SW8/150. The satellites - a left/right version for main and surround channels and a center version - feature patented DiAuralÆ circuitry in place of a conventional crossover to produce a phase-coherent sound, free of the distortion and sonic artifacts created by traditional crossovers. Founded in 1999, EdgeAudio, Inc. is based in Tigard, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. EdgeAudio manufactures its speaker systems at its 25,000-square-foot production facility in Ensenada, on the Pacific coast of Mexico.
