Niles Audio Corporation has introduced an 8-inch high performance stereo input ceiling-mounted loudspeaker for distributed home audio applications. The CM800SI features dual tweeters, one each for left and right channels, and an 8-inch dual-voice coil woofer. The new circular ceiling-mounted, weather-resistant loudspeaker is ideal for applications where a single ""sweet spot"" is impractical or impossible, such as a hallway. Its application specific design also works well in a confined area where only one speaker is sensible, such as an enclosed shower or small room. The CM800SI, which is currently shipping, has a suggested retail price of $259.95 each.""The CM800SI is one more step in the evolution of the Niles line of application specific loudspeakers and complements the highly successfully recently introduced CM650SI,"" said Ivan Zuckerman, Niles President. The new CM800SI features an 8-inch dual-voice coil woofer and dual 0.75-inch ultra-wide dispersion tweeters. The tweeters are housed in a ""stereo imaging"" faceplate that delivers both left and right channels, producing virtual stereo sound from a single speaker. The long-throw wooferís BumpBackô magnet design provides deep powerful bass at high output levels without ""bottoming."" In addition, to compensate for varying room acoustics, the CM800SI features two-position tone controls for bass and treble, mounted on the front baffle. This design simplifies fine tuning adjustment after the speaker has been installed.
