Samsung Electronics America continues its cutting-edge digital innovations with the introduction of a new line of flat screen Tantusô DynaFlatô high definition monitor TVs. Utilizing Samsungís proprietary DynaFlat flat-screen technology, the new line of Tantusô TVs feature a perfectly flat viewing image that has none of the curvature or image distortion associated with traditional TV screens. The digital HDTV DynaFlat models, in 30-inch widescreen as well as 27-inch and 32-inch conventional screen sizes, were introduced at the 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show. John Lavoie, National Marketing Manager for Samsung Electronics America, explains, ""With its Tantus DynaFlatô HD Monitor series, Samsung now gives the consumer a choice of high definition TV monitors, in a wide range of screen sizes and price ranges. These new televisions can be upgraded to receive a digital HDTV broadcast signal with the purchase of an optional digital set-top box receiver/decoder. It makes sense to buy a HDTV today because HD is the future of television, but Samsungís DynaFlat line also makes traditional TV look better. The DynaFlats offer flicker-free NTSC to progressive scan images, minus the glare and distortion of a typical curved television."" Among the three models, the TSL3295HF (32-inch) and the TSL2795HF (27-inch) are in the traditional 4:3 aspect ratio. For the home theatre enthusiasts, the TSL3095WHF (30-inch wide) features a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, making it ideal for watching the many DVD movies and HD broadcasts that are released in the widescreen format. These units offer an incredible array of advanced features and screen controls that make them stand out from the competition. All three include a ProChipô NTSC to progressive scan line doubling system that enhances the TVís picture quality from all traditional video sources (broadcast and pre-recorded). The DynaFlat HDTVs give the viewer a clear and complete picture by using every line available on the set at all times, unlike traditional televisions that use an interlaced on/off, odd/even line display that leaves line traces and a flickering picture. The DynaFlat HDTVís translucent on-screen display guides the viewer through a number of convenience features including an advanced, easy-to-use two-tuner capability for both picture-in-picture (PIP) and picture-and-picture (PAP) modes. PIP allows consumers to view a separate channel in the corner of the screen without a second video source. In addition, the PAP mode allows the viewer to split the screen and have two equally sized pictures side-by-side. These are convenient features for channel surfers who might want weather updates while not missing a minute of their favorite program or movie. Letterboxed movies can fill the screen on a Samsung HDTV for those looking to minimize the black bars. Zoom modes and a full range of picture and sound adjustments are included. A 3D Y/C digital comb filter, velocity scan modulation, a multi-focus electron gun, vertical compression, and many other enhancements come together for the high quality picture the DynaFlat HD models display. Connections include a multi purpose DTV/DVD component video/wideband component video jack that can accept 1080i, 480p and 480i. This (Y/Cb/Cr) connection provides viewers the flexibility to connect a DVD, progressive scan DVD, or a DTV set-top box. With this input, digital TV can be viewed regardless of the receiver type, be it terrestrial, cable or satellite. Side and rear S-Video input jacks round out the extensive jack pack connectivity. ""Once youíve had the opportunity to watch a flat-screen TV, you will notice how comfortable your eyes feel in comparison to watching curved-screen televisions. Consumers see flat screens as the most recognizable improvement in television viewing to come around in a long time,"" Lavoie adds. The audio capabilities are also outstanding due to the Impact Portô audio enclosure system that uses dual ported polypropylene chambers to improve mid and bass sounds. The result is a clearer speaking voice, and more dynamic audio. For the enthusiast, DolbyÆ Pro Logic speaker terminals are provided. To assist in launching the DynaFlat HDTVs, Samsung plans to offer consumers who purchase a DynaFlat HDTV three free months of the ""Starz Encore Super Pak"" subscription programming - available through satellite or cable - via a mail-in coupon. Samsung wants consumers to ""See How Much Better Todayís TV Can Be."" The Tantus DynaFlat HDTVs are shipping to dealers in the second quarter of 2001. The MSRP for the 27-inch TV, TSL2795HF, is $1,199.99 and the MSRP for the 32-inch TV, TSL3295HF, is $1,599.99. The MSRP for the 30-inch widescreen, TSL3095WHF is $2,199.99.
