(NASDAQ: CHTR) announced the selection of Liberate Technologies (NASDAQ: LBRT) open standards-based software in their rollout of interactive cable television services to advanced set-tops. Stephen Silva, Charter Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Technology, said Liberate was chosen because Liberate TV Platformô software has a proven record of success in the delivery of interactive services to more than one million customers in the United States and Europe. ""We're already running Liberate software on advanced Motorola set-tops in a pilot program in St. Louis. Mr. Silva said Charter digital customers in St. Louis with Liberate-enabled Motorola DCT5000 set-tops will initially have Internet access, the TV Guide Interactive programming guide, and television-based e-mail and interactive television portal services developed and supported by digeo, inc. Charter customers will also have access to advanced video systems with RealSystem G2 based content through the Liberate TV Navigatorô client software.
