Following up the critical acclaim received by its award winning VPL-VW10HT LCD projector, Sony Electronics is delivering an encore performance with a new three-panel 16:9 home theatre projector with features that top its premier display. The new VPL-VW11HT Home Theatre Projector made its debut at the Home Entertainment Show in New York as the latest addition to Sony's line of 16:9 front projectors. ""Our new model joins the VPL-VW10HT home theatre projectors which received numerous awards and industry accolades due to its cinematic-like experience, brightness level and color accuracy,"" said Lisa Baldino, Marketing Manager of Display Systems for Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Professional Company. ""We were thrilled with those high approval ratings and we expect that the picture enhancements to the new VPL-VW11HT will increase the popularity of our home theatre projection systems."" Baldino said that to broaden its appeal to home theatre enthusiasts, the new VPL-VW11HT Home Theatre Projector includes such key features as: - Double the contrast ratio in both Cinema Black and regular mode to enhance the natural picture quality of the programming. For instance, if watching a movie with the room lights dimmed, the new projector produces deep black levels that appear strikingly rich and uniform across the screen. - CineMotion, a 3-2 pulldown circuit provides more life-like images and natural motion from film-bases sources. - Longer lamp life to enjoy more hours of continuous entertainment without the need to replace a bulb. According to Baldino, the new projector also offers brilliantly defined picture quality, high brightness, uniform picture from corner-to-corner, and whisper-quiet operation. Incorporating three-panel LCD technology for ultra-fine image detail, the new VPL-VW11HT also features a high brightness of 1000 ANSI Lumens and a widescreen display that showcases the same 16:9 format screened in movie theatres. The equipped remote control offers viewers their choice of 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios to view either standard programs or widescreen features and movies. The projector's compact size and weight - only 17 pounds - makes it desirable for ceiling mount, tabletop or coffee table projection. It has a 40- to 300-inch screen coverage range (viewable area, measured diagonally). It can produce home theatre entertainment from a wide variety of video sources, including high definition TV broadcasts, VHS movies, DVD standard and progressive programs, as well as computer inputs. The projector also includes Sony's Digital Reality Creationô circuitry to produce picture quality that appears about four times better than standard television. The on-screen image is further enhanced by the unit's high resolution display capability of up to 1366 x 768 pixels. The Sony VPL-VW11HT will be available in late June from Sony Custom Installation System (CIS) dealers at a suggested retail price of $7,999. For more information, visit www.sel.sony.com.
