Princeton Graphic SystemsÆ, manufacturer of multiple award-winning HDTV monitors, computer, and convergence displays, introduces the Ai3.2HD, a 32-inch viewable, flat-screen 4:3 multi-scan CRT, NTSC TV/computer monitor with integrated Ch.1ô interactive entertainment services for enhanced TV and Internet functionality. Performance and versatility are the strong suits of the Ai3.2HD monitor system which supports video, 480p, 1080i, and 720p (letterbox) digital formats, as well as displaying VGA, SVGA, and XGA graphics from computer sources. The Ch.1 enabled Ai3.2HD comes standard with a built-in DVDO 503 deinterlacer and universal IR remote/keyboard/mouse, and is scheduled to begin shipping in July 2001 with a suggested list price of $3,499. Featuring a wide video bandwidth of 40 MHz and dual auto-detect Y/Pb/Pr-to-RGB transcoder matrices for 480p and HDTV, the data/video Ai3.2HD offers a superb rendition of DTV and computer signals with unsurpassed clarity, detail and color accuracy. With a horizontal scanning frequency of 30-50 kHz, the Ai3.2HD is capable of displaying 720p HDTV signals letterboxed in their native mode. Such display capability is a rarity in digital-ready and HD sets because of the formatís high horizontal scanning frequency of 45 kHz. Featuring multiple inputs, four aspect ratio presets, and multiple adjustable color temperature settings to accommodate a variety of applications, the multi-scan Ai3.2HD is plug-and-play compatible with VGA, SVGA, and XGA resolutions from PC and Macintosh computer sources. A built-in NTSC tuner, USB ports, and RS-232C serial communications port completes the displayís versatility. The Ai3.2HD features a fine dot pitch, flat-screen, high resolution Invar mask CRT with special Microfilter technology which provides color corrected phosphors for unmatched colorimetry and 40 percent more brightness and contrast than standard shadow mask CRTs. The Ai3.2HD offers outstanding performance including excellent gray scale linearity, enhanced blacks, color fidelity, and flat field uniformity demanded by todayís discriminating video enthusiasts and professionals. Adding to its versatility, the CRTís high light output and flat screen allows the display to be used in high ambient light conditions with up to 50 percent less reflections than curved screens. A new electron gun design which improves focus by 15 percent, coupled with new high frequency saddle-saddle deflection yoke, allows for 20 percent improved definition at screen corners, compared with conventional flat-screen CRTs. ìThis display featuring an advanced technology, distortion-free flat-screen CRT and a new industrial design will set a new standard for discriminating customers,î said William Wang, President and Chief Executive Officer of Princeton Graphic Systems. ìWe are extremely excited about the opportunity to offer this type of performance in a contemporary design which critics and consumers have come to expect from our brand.î Ch.1ís interactive entertainment subsystem is fully integrated and built into the Ai3.2HD, and offers high resolution Internet access, e-mail, chat, SSL transactions, and channel guide with auto-tuning and auto-record functions. Ch.1 offers (SVGA) 800 x 600 rendering of Web pages from National Semiconductorís Geode x86 processor. Its full-featured interactive platform is accessed from Ch.1ís servers via built-in 56k dial-up modem or T1, DSL, or cable modem from an RJ-45 Fast Ethernet connection. The Ch.1 portal opens with customizable TV and Web favorites for up to five users. The localized channel guide offers story synopsis, actors, production date, director, rating, and link to the networkís Web site. To operate the system, an integrated keyboard/remote/pointing device and a multi-device universal IR remote for TV, cable, satellite, VCR, hard disk recorders, and A/V receivers is included with the Ai3.2HD. To improve the resolution of all standard video sources including the TVís tuner, a built-in DVDO 503 PureProgressiveô motion-adaptive deinterlacer has been included. The integrated chipset implementation of the award-winning line doubler offers several advantages over other outboard implementations. These include direct connectivity to component video 480i signals from DVD players, variable edge enhancement and control of color and tint. The ìline doubler/scalerî features auto source detection to employ a 3:2 pulldown technique if a film source is identified. This advanced performance creates a progressively scanned 480p image that is interlace artifact-free and better than those from expensive stand-alone line doublers/scalers costing thousands of dollars. The Ai3.2HD features an unparalleled input/output array for maximum versatility. Inputs include one RF input (with TV tuner composite video output and a pair of stereo audio outputs), two S-Video inputs (one front, one rear), two composite inputs (one front, one rear), one set of component video 480i inputs (for standard DVD players) on 75 ohm BNC connectors, one set of HD component video inputs (Y/Pb/Pr) on 75-ohm BNC connectors, a RGBHV input on 75-ohm BNC connectors, and one front panel VGA input (RGBHV) on a D-sub 15-pin HD connector. Five pairs of stereo audio inputs, two front panel USB inputs, and an RS-232C serial communications port are also provided. To take full advantage of the Microfilter CRTís ability to render HD source material, the display has been engineered with a high quality adaptive Y/C comb filter, variable and defeatable scan velocity modulation, dynamic edge-to-edge focus, four color temperature presets (5400K/6500K/9300K/custom), dynamic high voltage regulation for picture and gray scale stability, true raster collapse for full vertical resolution in letterbox mode, multi-aspect ratios with geometry control, auto-detect NTSC/ATSC color matrices, MTS, SAP, parental control, and closed captioning. Responsibly engineered to be EPA Energy Starô and VESAô compliant, the UL, CUL, DHHS and FCC Class B approved Ai3.2HD features exceptional build quality to ensure many years of trouble-free, environment-friendly usage. The Ai3.2HD comes with a one-year standard warranty on CRT, parts, and labor. At 176 pounds, measuring 36 3/8 x 27 3/4 x 23 1/8 (WHD), the display will ship in July 2001 and will be exclusively sold by specialty retailers and custom electronics installers.
