U2 To Release DVD

Release Will Capture Boston Stops On Elevation Tour

27-Jun-01

U2 have captured two recent gigs from their Elevation Tour for a planned DVD. The shows - June 5th and 6th at Boston's Fleet Center - were filmed with the help of two longtime collaborators. Handling the visual element was Ned O'Hanlon, who previously worked with the band on 1994's ìU2: Zoo TV Live From Sydneyî and the 1997 TV special ìU2: A Year in Pop.î Producer Steve Lillywhite - who has worked closely with the foursome from 1980's ìBoyî though last year's ìAll That You Can't Leave Behindî - oversaw the audio angle. ""It sounds great,"" Lillywhite says of the DVD's music. ""I've known those guys for twenty years and I'm so proud of them. They're really, really doing it."" Lillywhite says he'll be mixing the disc sometime in July with the band eyeing a November release for the as-yet-untitled audio-visual buffet. The first North American leg of the aforementioned Elevation road trip concludes tomorrow night (June 22nd) in East Rutherford, N.J., after which the lads head back overseas where they kick off a European tour on July 6th in Denmark. U2 will return stateside later this year for another series of gigs, with dates to be announced shortly.
