Boston AcousticsÆ announced the addition of the Micro System9000 II complete home theatre speaker system to its home speaker line. Combining Boston Acousticsí popular Micro 90x II satellite speakers and a modified PV600 subwoofer, the System9000 II will be the first Boston Acoustics complete system available in a new buffed silver-gray finish. A prototype system made its debut last January at the 2001 Consumer Electronics Show. Recognizing a trend in the home theatre market toward metallic finishes in televisions and electronics, the new System9000 II is available in the new buffed silver-gray finish, as well as the traditional black finish of its predecessor. The new system also incorporates sonic improvements to keep its unrivaled position as the industry leader in the micro-speaker category. The System9000 II is comprised of two Micro 90x II front satellite speakers, two Micro 80x II surround speakers, a Micro 90c II center channel speaker, and a matching subwoofer based on Boston Acousticsí popular PV600. The System9000 II is optimized for DolbyÆ Digital sound by utilizing a two-way, full-range speaker in each of the five satellite speakers, delivering unrivaled performance that has made the ìBoston Soundî famous - all for an MSRP of $999.95. Along with the new color option, the System9000 II also features an improved, more powerful subwoofer with a built in, 120-watt amplifier. The system is built in Boston Acousticsí Massachusetts factory to exacting standards - widely regarded as among the industryís tightest tolerances. The System9000 II satellites and center speakers feature Boston Acousticsí MagnaGuardÆ magnetic shielding to prevent television interference. Each Micro 90x II satellite is built in a cast aluminum cabinet to reduce unwanted vibrations, and combines a 3.5-inch bass/midrange unit with Bostonís 1-inch tweeter. This tweeter utilizes an aluminum dome with a patented AMDô (Amplitude Modification Deviceô). The AMD produces an extremely smooth response, resulting in remarkably natural, accurate high frequencies. Utilizing a pair of 3.5-inch dual bass/midrange units, the cast aluminum Micro 90c II matching center channel is also equipped with Bostonís 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter with AMD to create a sonically unified front soundstage. The two Micro 80x II surround speakers also employ a 3.5-inch bass/midrange unit with a 0.75-inch dome tweeter. All five full-range speakers are designed to work perfectly with Dolby Digital sound sources. The 10-inch, down-firing subwoofer employs a DCDô (Deep Channel Designô) driver and a dedicated fixed crossover is optimized to assure foolproof, perfect blending between the subwoofer and the satellites. The subwoofer volume control is placed on the front of the cabinet to allow for easier level adjustment. The System9000 II is priced at $999.95 MSRP, with delivery expected in the second quarter of 2001. It will be available at Boston Acousticsí specialty retailers.
