AudioControl Introduces Bulletproof Multi-Channel Amplifier For Home Theatre Applications

New Model Meets Needs Of High Performance Theatre Systems

3-Aug-01

AudioControl, known internationally for the innovative design and manufacturing of performance audio products, has added a new multichannel amplifier to its line of home theatre components. The new Pantages amplifier utilizes a unique and highly efficient Class H design to deliver 200 watts per channel into five channels at an 8-ohm load, or in other words a kilowatt of RMS output. ìBeginning with The Architect line of products, dealers and installers have to come rely upon AudioControl for designing and manufacturing performance-oriented amplifiers that are considered ëBulletproof.í It was a natural progression for AudioControl to take technology that we developed for the custom-based Architect line of amplifiers and apply it to the home theatre market,î says AudioControl National Sales Manager Chris Kane. In a Class H design, the power supply voltage for the output is modulated so that it is always just above the signal - therefore increasing the efficiency of the amplifier, and reducing heat and unnecessary power dissipation. The high efficiency circuit design of the Pantages eliminates the need for noisy, bulky fans. The new Pantages home theatre amplifier also showcases AudioControl's proprietary Lightdriveô protection circuitry, which erases the possibility of clipping, audible distortion or amplifier damage on a channel-by-channel basis, even under the heaviest-use conditions. In adding to its power and flexibility, Pantages features both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs. This allows Pantages to easily interface with a wide array of system components, including the new Diva 24-bit audio enhancement system from AudioControl, featuring balanced inputs and outputs. In addition to being virtually bulletproof, Pantages is also a superbly musical amplifier that relies upon a high-definition BiMOS output stage topology. This unique layout combines the audiophile-grade refinement of a Class A bipolar transistor design with the impressive efficiency and thermal ruggedness typical of MOSFET circuits. Pantages is built in a heavy-duty, all-metal chassis, and is available with a rack mount as an option. It sports either a black or silver anodized front panel to cosmetically integrate with the Diva. Manufacturerís suggested retail price for the Pantages is $2,399. For more information on AudioControl, visit www.audiocontrol.com.
