Following the success of Sony's original DVD Dream System (the DAV-S300), the company has begun shipping the first two models of its new 2001 Dream System lineup. The new lineup includes three models that provide full DVD-Video/CD performance and the added benefit of critically acclaimed Super Audio CD (SACD), a high resolution music format. Two of the three new models, the DAV-S500 and the DAV-C7500 are shipping now - the third model, the DAV-C900, will ship in September. The systems are designed for those looking to incorporate the attributes of home theatre simply and easily. ""This year's Dream lineup embodies our DVD Dream System principle - to make home entertainment simple to set up and great to experience,"" said Tim Baxter, Senior Vice President of Sony Electronics' Home Entertainment Products Division. ""It's a double play - people can now easily set up a home entertainment system and enjoy DVD and CDs - in just about any room. And, they can also play SACDs to experience the latest high resolution surround sound music."" In addition to multichannel SACD, DolbyÆ Digital and DTSÆ Digital Surroundô decoding, system power has been increased in each unit. And, thanks to the efficiency of Sony's full digital amplifier, the new Dream Systems maintain a sleek profile. Sony designed the new single- and five-disc systems to provide all the benefits of DVD-Video, the fastest-growing home entertainment format ever, along with the outstanding sonic attributes of the multichannel SACD format, in one convenient package. Additionally, all systems can play CD-R and CD-RW discs. All new Sony DVD Dream Systems center around a single, integrated DVD/CD/SACD unit that features a 5.1-channel digital amplifier and AM/FM receiver with 30 AM/FM station presets. Each of these new systems also come with Sony's Digital Cinema Soundô processing, an exclusive feature that recreates the acoustics of Hollywood dubbing stages. The systems are also equipped with five matching micro-satellite speakers for front, center and surround, as well as a subwoofer and color-coded speaker connectors help make setup simple and fast.
