Industry leaders Onkyo, through its Integra division and OnQ Technologies have each become licensees for A-BUS technology. A-BUS, the patent-pending and innovative multi-room audio technology, is a proven Cat 5-based solution offering significant advantages over traditional audio distribution methods. Integra, which specializes in A/V components designed for custom installation, is the first A-BUS licensee to adopt the A-BUS Ready standard for two of their new Integra receivers, the DTR-8.2 and DTR7.2. The receivers, priced at $2000 and $1200, respectively, will be shipping in September and October. On becoming the first A-BUS licensee, Onkyo Senior Vice President Mark Friedman stated, ""A-BUS goes hand in hand with everything Integra wants to do. This technology makes it very easy and seamless for an installer to use an Integra receiver to create a four-zone multi-room system. With Integra taking the lead in A-BUS, it easily expands the custom possibilities for our dealers and installers."" OnQ Technologies, an early innovator and leading manufacturer in the home networking market, is the first company to integrate A-BUS technology as part of a home network system. The OnQ A-BUS system is comprised of a central hub module located in their service center, an interface at the entertainment center and a variety of amplified keypads.OnQ's President Doug Fikse commented, ""The Cat 5 architecture of A-BUS is ideal for home networking applications. It allows the system designer and the installer to work consistently with Cat 5 saving time, money and potential mistakes."" Fikse went on to add, ""Beyond the simplicity though, we were highly impressed with the performance of the A-BUS system. It offers a terrific audio solution for our installers and builders to incorporate into their homes."" Integra and OnQ Technologies will both be exhibiting at CEDIA EXPO 2001, September 7-9. These two launches represent the first A-BUS Ready and home networking applications of A-BUS technology. The Integra DTR-8.2 and DTR-7.2, as well as the new OnQ A-BUS audio distribution system, will also be on display at the Russound booth, #568. A-BUS is a registered, patent-pending technology from LeisureTech Electronics of Sydney, Australia, who have marketed A-BUS products in Australia and New Zealand since 1999.
