NAD Launches Next Generation Of DVD Players

New Players Bring NAD's Standard Of Quality And Performance To Video Playback And MP3 Decoding

1-Oct-01

NAD, expanded their lineup of stereo and home theatre products with the entry-level T 531 DVD/CD Player and the T 571 DVD/CD Changer that supports playback of CD-R/CD-RW discs with built-in MP3 decoding, capable of delivering more than ten hours of music from a single MP3-encoded CD-R/CD-RW. NAD is well-known for the audio quality of its products, and the video performance on both the T 531 and T 571 meet the same high standards. The T 531's 10-bit video DACs and the T 571's 4 x 10-bit video DACs reproduce images with vivid color and extraordinary detail. The T 571's increased resolution, employing progressive scan technology, provides the best possible picture, when used with the latest high-end video monitors and projectors. For video displays without component video input, the S-Video connection still offers superior video performance. Both the T 531 and T 571 are full-featured DVD players, offering three video connection options (composite video, S-Video and component video) as well as three audio connection options (analog RCA jacks, coaxial and optical digital connectors) ensuring complete compatibility with current and future home theatre setups. Both players support the DTSÆ Digital Surroundô format (external decoder required) as well as the more common DolbyÆ formats -- Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic. The NAD T 571 holds up to five DVDs or CDs (or a mix of the two). The T 571 also incorporates an HDCDÆ decoder and 24-bit/96 kHz DACs on the analog output. The resulting sound quality is far superior to many ""high-end"" A/V receivers or processors with built-in DACs (most of which do not support HDCD decoding). With both the T 531 and T 571, music playback of MP3 files is removed from the computer environment and taken to where music belongs, in a dedicated A/V system. More significantly, MP3 decoding is reproduced using a dedicated DSP chip, and uses of the same DACs and associated circuitry used for CD playback or two-channel mixdown of surround material -- the sound quality is far above what one would expect from an MP3 sound file. As each CD-R or CD-RW can hold up to ten hours of MP3-encoded music, the T 571 can play up to 50 hours of uninterrupted music, without ever hearing the same song twice. The frame advance feature advances the picture one frame at a time, and the 4x and 16x zoom highlights and enlarges a particular area of the frame. The NAD T 531 also offers multi-angle, multi-sound and multi-subtitles on DVDs that are programmed with these options. All features are easily accessed with the supplied remote control. For home automation and custom installation purposes, the T 571 can be switched on and to standby remotely by 12-volt triggering. Bringing NAD quality and performance to a new, more affordable price range, the T 531 is a natural partner to one of NAD's high performance Theatre Series Receivers such as the T 761 or T 751. The NAD T 531 DVD Player will sell for a suggested retail price of $499 and the T 571 will sell for $799, with delivery scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2001.
