Dan Slusser Named Chairman Of DTS, Jon Kirchner Promoted To Chief Executive Officer

The DTSÆ Board of Directors announced that Dan Slusser has been named Chairman of the company, and Jon Kirchner has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Slusser had previously been Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman. Mr. Kirchner adds the role of Chief Executive Officer to his duties as President. Slusser and Kirchner will remain a team in pressing the expansion of DTS technology around the globe. Mr. Slusser joined DTS in January 1997 and has overseen the growth of DTS digital sound systems in movie theatres worldwide, as well as the company's expansion into the consumer products market, which has enjoyed rapid acceptance by all major consumer electronics manufacturers and enthusiastic response from consumers. During his 30 years prior to joining DTS, he worked for MCA, Inc. (Universal Studios) and 20th Century Fox Film Corporation. Slusser began his entertainment industry career in 1967 as Industrial Relations Representative for Deluxe General, Inc. Mr. Slusser is a past chairman of the Permanent Charities Committee, and has been involved in a number of industry organizations including the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He served on the Technical Committee of the Presidential Advisory Council for the Museum of Television and Radio. Mr. Kirchner joined the company in August 1993, shortly after DTS was founded. He initially served as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance and Business Development. As a senior executive for most of the company's history, Mr. Kirchner has helped lead the explosive growth of DTS and its expansion from the leading provider of digital multichannel audio for cinemas into other entertainment markets, including home theatre, car audio and PC/games products, as well as 5.1 music CDs, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, and DVD-ROM software. Prior to joining DTS, Mr. Kirchner worked for PriceWaterhouseCoopers from 1989 to 1993. During his tenure at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Kirchner advised clients on accounting, financial restructuring, business turnaround, marketing positioning and valuation issues.
