Eclectic DVD Distribution, a division of MVD, will be launched by October 9, 2001, just in time for the East Coast Video Conference. The launch of Eclectic has come in response to the growing number of independent films that are gaining mainstream attention, as well as a need to introduce older ground-breaking films on the relatively new medium of DVD. Eclectic will strive to be the leading distributor of rare and independent films on DVD.ìFor year we turned down non-music films for distribution for two reason; we didnít want to dilute the strong image of MVD doing Music DVD & Video. We also didnít want to do a mediocre job with the independent films,î says Jennifer Camper, Director of National Sales for Eclectic. ìBy launching Eclectic, we are able to get separation and focus of the two product lines and also bring our customers the highest level of service with a specialized and knowledgeable sales force.îEclectic is launching seventeen films from Screen Edge, Amos Poe, Ivy Video, Skgrilla, and Ikos. These films include:The Bedroom - Japanese Pink Cinema featuring chemically enabled forbidden pleasureTandem - Japanese Pink Cinema featuring sexual predators on the Tokyo commuter trainsDream of Garuda - Oriental lust, out of controlBlack Christmas - Stark and stylish horror/thriller starring Margot KidderUnmade Beds - A photographerís battle between fantasy and reality, with Debbie HarryThe Foreigner - A Foreigner adrift in a violent New York CityCalvary Charge - Ronald Regan in a Civil War conflictDa Mission - Underground Hip-Hop adventureMan Woman Film - A journey through the mind an epileptic poetFutz - One manís unnatural affections for his pig cause his neighbors to react in bizarre waysDragnet - Three classic episodes from 1950Eclectic will also partner with Stuart Shapiro and Cult DVD in releasing several titles including Tunnel Vision, Comedyís Dirtiest Dozen & Heavyweights of Comedy, The Real Andy Kaufman and Midnight Rider.
