Yamaha has announced its flagship CX1, a new DVD changer with exceptional construction quality and performance features designed for use as the audio/video source for higher-end home theatre systems. For example, the DVD-CX1 features intelligent progressive-can output and 3:2 pull-down conversion for smooth, artifact-free playback, via a unique one-chip solution. This eliminates two stages of D/A and A/D conversion, producing improved video quality by allowing the signal to remain in the digital domain until output. In addition, the CX-1's solid chassis design and reinforced anti-vibration construction provides superior tracking performance via a shock-proof 8 MB memory, an enlarged disc stabilizer, double-layered top cover, and bottom plate with copper shielding.Performance and custom installation features include 4:4:4 progressive component video outputs (2), plus two composite and two S-video outputs for multi-room operation, I/O ports for remote control, RS-232C port for computer control, extended I/R commands, and detachable power cord. Other highlights include 54 MHz video bandwidth 10-bit video DAC (to ensure smooth, artifact-free forward and reverse DVD scanning), dual lasers for compatibility with CD-R/W and DVD-R/RW/+RW discs, ability to play MP3 files on discs, Yamaha's patented PlayXchange technology (which allows four discs to be changed while one is playing), and Cinema Image and Cinema Dialog for optimized music viewing and listening. The CX-1 also offers a full complement of convenient user features, such as on-screen menus and icons, still picture, programmed and random playback, parental lock function, and extensive digital and analog output jacks for interconnectivity ease. The DVD-CX1 has a suggested retail price of $1,299 and will be shipping in late February of 2002.For product and sales information, visit www.yamaha.com/yec.
