Pioneer Introduces New Home Theatre In-A-Box, Offering Simple Solution To Achieve High Quality Audio Experience

16-Jan-02

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., adds to its home theatre-in-a-box lineup, the HTP-220 system, with step-up features such as a DolbyÆ Digital, Dolby Pro-Logic II, DTSÆ, a powered subwoofer, and a smart remote control. Available in black or silver, the system includes five full-range, color-matched satellite speakers. ""Our new home theatre package offers the consumer another easy and affordable way to achieve a high quality home theatre experience,"" said Craig McManis, Vice President of Marketing for Home Entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. The heart of the HTP-220 is the VSX-D411 receiver (also sold separately). This receiver comes equipped with Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTS decoding, and features Pioneer's five channels of high quality, equal power amplification which provides 100 watts of amplifier power to all channels, eliminating the possibility of one channel dominating a particular soundfield. All five amplifiers are of discrete configuration and utilize Pioneer's hybrid amplification system to ensure that the correct amount of bias signal is applied to each transistor for low distortion. Pioneer's amplifiers are designed to handle the full bandwidth of Dolby Digital and DTS encoded software. The VSX-D411 also features Pioneer's exclusive Midnight Mode and 5-D Expanded Theater Mode. Midnight Mode allows consumers to enjoy all of the fidelity and clarity of Dolby Digital and DTS surround movies at a lower volume than normal, so as not to awaken or disturb other people in the house. 5-D Expanded Theater greatly improves the front/rear soundstage of any Dolby Digital/DTS/Pro Logic-encoded material. The VSX-D411 also offers two assignable digital inputs, three audio inputs, three audio/video inputs, and a subwoofer output. To compliment the five full-range satellite speakers, a 100-watt, eight-inch powered subwoofer is packaged with the HTP-220, delivering the deep bass needed for today's dynamic soundtracks. For buyers encountering a multichannel sound system for the first time, ease of installation is extremely important. With that in mind, Pioneer has produced a companion booklet for the HTP-220 that details setup procedures. All of the provided speaker cables are color-coded, making connections even simpler. The HTP-220 joins Pioneer's other home theatre systems including: - HTS 910DV -- a sleek, slim, component design system including DVD player, digital receiver and surround speakers - HTZ 77DV -- DVD player, digital receiver and surround speakers with a compact, independent display that enables the rest of the system to be hidden from direct view - HTD 510DV -- digital receiver with integrated five-disc DVD/CD changer and surround speakers - HTP-710 -- a high quality digital receiver (VSX-D810S), surround speakers and a smart remote The HTP-220 is available in May at suggested retail price of $475.
