Pioneer Unveils 43-Inch And 50-Inch PureVision Plasma Televisions

16-Jan-02

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., a leader in digital entertainment technology, today unveiled its 43-inch and 50-inch PureVisionô consumer plasma televisions, the Pioneer PDP-4330HD and the Pioneer PDP-5030HD. Pioneer's new plasma televisions boast a range of exciting new features and represent Pioneer's commitment to maximizing the visual entertainment experience of consumers, allowing them to create and design the ultimate home cinema. Pioneer plasma televisions come complete with a standalone media receiver that has twin 181-channel NTSC tuners built in. The media receiver is compatible with all basic cable and terrestrial broadcast transmissions in the same way as standard televisions. The media receiver also allows the consumer to input an array of sources including, satellite, cable, DVD, VCR and computer signals up to wide XGA. The media receiver is digitally linked to the panel for optimal performance. The media receivers for both plasma televisions also offer front panel audio/video inputs along with an S-video and computer front panel input. The remote control for the receiver is preset and learning for the easy integration of existing home electronic products. ""Pioneer's new PureVision plasma televisions represent the future of the television,"" said Craig McManis, Vice President of Marketing for Home Entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. ""Whether you need a plasma because of space constraints or you simply want one for its outstanding picture quality, Pioneer's plasma displays offer a level of quality unrivaled in the industry."" The flat screens of both plasmas provide ultra-fine image details in movie screen proportions. Combined with multichannel surround sound and DVD systems, the plasma TV will become a focal point for living room entertainment systems creating a true cinema experience. The PDP-4330HD is the industry's first ""true"" high definition XGA plasma television under 50 inches with a 16:9 aspect ratio (1024 x 768 resolution) display. The PDP-5030HD is a true native wide XGA (1280 x 768 resolution) display. Both high resolution panels offer five screen modes to handle various formats including 4:3, zoom, full-screen (16:9), cinema and wide (expanded 16:9). The Pioneer PureVision plasma televisions come complete with media receiver, Pioneer high-definition plasma panel, digital interface cabling, two side-mount speakers, and tabletop stand. Wall mounting options are available with the addition of either PDWB-5003 or PWM-503. Each widescreen plasma television is less than four inches thin and weighs less than one hundred pounds. The screens are perfectly flat, flicker-free and viewable to an angle of more than 160 degrees horizontally and vertically. The Pioneer PureVision plasma televisions provide highly accurate and detailed image reproduction enhanced by several key technological developments: - Pioneer has developed a new Pure Color Filter that significantly decreases external light reflectivity to achieve higher levels of contrast even in direct light. The filter also reduces the extraneous elements in the red, green and blue signals to deliver greatly improved color reproduction. - Pioneer's unique Deep Encased Cell Structure produces a greater light emission to achieve a 60 percent higher brightness level than the previous 50-inch model. This is achieved by making each cell deeper to increase the phosphor area, and by encasing each cell with horizontal and vertical ribs to prevent light leakage from neighboring cells. This improves the viewing of the panels in either dark or light environments. - The Advanced Continuous Emission Display Technology eliminates the false contours that can appear in close-ups of faces. It improves contrast in dark areas, resulting in more detailed, smoother images. - Pioneer Progressive Scan Converter boosts the NTSC picture quality from sources such as DVD, LaserDisc, and satellite. To accomplish this, it doubles the interlaced signal to a VGA level (640 x 480), then expands the signal to high definition resolution, resulting in an amazing increase in original signal density. - Pioneer's PureCinema IIô detects an NTSC 2:3 film-based source and instantly recreates each individual still frame to create a more film-like presentation. These enhanced technologies encapsulate Pioneer's vision for best-of-breed displays and the future of plasma and digital technologies. Pioneer will market the new plasma displays globally under the PureVision sub-brand. The aesthetic design, PureVision technology and growing demand for first class technology place Pioneer in good position to lead the digital revolution. The PDP-4330HD and the PDP-5030HD will be available in January 2002 at a suggested retail price of $11,500 and $15,500. The wall mounting brackets are currently available at a suggested retail price of $500 for the PDWB-5003 and $650 for the PWM-503. Available options include: - Wall Brackets (2) - Stereo Under-Mount Speaker PDP-508-LR (Available For The PDP-4030HD) - 7 Meter Digital Interface Cabling For more information about Pioneer Electronics, visit www.pioneerelectronics.com.
