Sony Music Adds New Multichannel Super Audio CD Titles

Sony Music Entertainment (SME) announced it will be releasing 20 new multichannel Super Audio CD (SACD) titles in early 2002. The announcement coincides with the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, where several electronics companies are announcing new multichannel SACD players. Twelve new titles to be release in the first calendar quarter include: Mary Chapin Carpenterís ìTime Sex Love,î Destinyís Childís ìSurvivor,î Billie Holidayís ìGreatest Hits,î Johnny Cashís ìLive at Folsom Prison,î Peter Toshís ìLegalize It,î Dave Brubeckís ìTime Out,î Peter Whiteís ìGlow,î the September 11th benefit album ìThe Concert for New York City,î Steve Tyrellís ìStandard Time,î Yo-Yo Maís ìThe Music of John Williams,î Carole Kingís ìTapestry,î and Marvin Gayeís ìMidnight Love.î ìWe plan to aggressively build our SACD library with additional multichannel titles throughout the coming year,î commented Leslie C. Cohen, Vice President, Business Development for Sony Music Entertainment. ìNow we are branching out into other genres including reggae and live concert recordings which lend themselves to the surround sound capabilities of SACD.î To date, Sony Music has released 150 SACD titles.
