Samsung introduces the neo-designed DynaFlat series, the first in Samsung's family of new-look Tantus brand DTVs. These models offer a new Neo cabinet design and slimmer width. The line includes the 27-inch TXM2798HF, 32-inch TXM3298HF, and 30-inch widescreen TXM3098WHF. Samsung's Neo cabinet design is stylish and adds to the functionality of the set, featuring an optical filter shield that increases the depth of field and overall clarity. The cabinet also incorporates built-in bottom-firing speakers to facilitate the slim form factor. Additional performance enhancements include Samsung's 3:2 pull-down technology -- a sophisticated system that converts 24-frame-per-second film-sourced video and delivers video output at 30 frames per second, eliminating the blurring and ghosting inherent in film to video conversion. The BBE audio feature is said to produces dialog that is easier to understand and sound that is more clear and audible.The lineup employs Samsung's state-of-the-art, proprietary DynaFlat technology, claimed to offer a perfectly flat image without the curvature, image distortion or glare that is associated with traditional TV screens. Progressive scan is provided via Samsung's Pro Chipô system. The component YPbPr video inputs accept 480i, 480p, and 1080i. Additional features include an 8-bit, 4 MHz 3D Y/C comb filter and an S-video input, as well as picture-in-picture (PIP) and split PIP (side-by-side) viewing capabilities. The 27-inch TXM2798HF (MSRP $1,199.99), 32-inch TXM3298HF ($1,699.99), and 30-inch widescreen TXM3098WHF ($1,699.99) will all be available in May of 2002.
