Samsung Electronics USA, Inc. debuted the new 30-inch DynaFlat TV (model TSL3099WHF). Featuring a 16:9 viewing ratio and Samsung's patented technology for improved flat screen resolution, and reduced depth, the new TV is the flagship of the 2002 Tantusô DynaFlat series. This 30-inch flat-screen digital monitor employs a new type of shadow mask called the Advanced Tension Optimized Mask (ATOM), said to to allow the electron beam greater pinpoint precision than before. There are also design improvements on the electron gun and at the phosphor level. At the same time, the footprint depth of the set has been reduced as much as 20 percent over competitive models. John Lavoie, Marketing Manager, Visual Display Group, Samsung Electronics USA, Inc., stated, ""The short depth and eye-catching design of Samsung's new 30-inch DynaFlat sets it apart from other TVs on the market today. With a picture tube that is among the world's slimmest at 17.9 inches deep, the set has a sleek, almost window-like design that fits into any entertainment environment. Add in Samsung's award-winning DynaFlat technology, which is recognized for its superb, distortion-free images, and you have a winning combination that can't be beat."" Samsung's universal remote and translucent on-screen display guide users through the DynaFlat's features and controls, such as split-screen picture-in-picture (side-by-side). The DynaFlat TV also offers picture-in-picture (PIP). The TSL3099WHFís Panoramic mode allows a 4:3 image to fill the 16:9 screen. The TSL3099WHF incorporates Samsung's internal subwoofer/satellite audio system. The bass frequencies are contained in a separate ported enclosure located at the back, while the mid and high frequencies are directed out of front-firing speakers. A DolbyÆ Pro Logic processor with connection terminals and an on-screen equalizer are included. The TSL3099WHF incorporates the ProChipô NTSC-to-progressive-scan system, as well as a 3D Y/C comb filter and velocity scan modulation circuitry. The corners are claimed to maintain focus through a multi-focus electron gun. Picture controls can be customized for the specific source input. The TSL3099WHF is available for $2,199 MSRP.
