Toshiba has introduced its Cinema Series 57HLX82 57-inch projection TV, which utilizes Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) technology, an advanced three-chip system at 1920 x 1080 resolution.Noted Scott Ramirez, Toshiba Vice President of Marketing. The projection set measures 17 inches deep and utilizes three LCoS microchips (red, green, and blue), along with Toshiba's new HID (High Intensity Discharge) 8,000-hour lamp and a variety of advanced digital optical technologies. In addition, there is a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) input with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Copy Protection). A 15-pin D-sub input provides XGA reception from a connected PC. The 57HLX82 features a glass shield with anti-reflective coating over a less than 0.1mm pitch screen, designed especially for LCoS display technology. There is built-in storage space underneath the screen. The 57HLX82 features SRSÆ TruSurroundô, along with bottom-mounted woofers and screen height tweeters.The Toshiba Cinema Series 57HLX82 will be available in the fourth quarter of 2002 at a suggested retail price of $8,999.99.
