Toshiba's 2002 line of projection TVs includes a total of 16 sets, ranging in screen size from 42 to 65 inches, including 12 HDTV-compatible models and nine widescreen (16:9) TVs. All new Toshiba projection TVs feature newly designed silver cabinets, including a split-cabinet design for the Cinema Series 65-inch 65HDX82. Another feature is TouchFocus auto digital convergence.All Toshiba analog projection TVs now feature PowerFocus HD CRTs.All HDTV-compatible projection models offer 720p reception capability and feature the company's PowerFocus HD II CRTs which utilize fine phosphors, a high beam current, large electrostatic lens area, and Dynamic Quadruple Focus. These new CRTs feature DFine Hi-Speed, along with TheaterFine HD projection screens. Toshiba widescreen projection TVs include a new feature called CableClear DNR, an advanced noise reduction system that eliminates video noise (""snow""). Tru-View video circuitry is claimed to further improve the image.Toshiba's new TheaterWide HD Modes offer viewers a choice of multiple picture sizing modes, allowing them to apply varying amounts of zoom, stretching, and cropping to the image in order to allow 4:3 images to fill the entire 16:9 screen. Consumers may utilize these modes with 720p and 1080i signals to eliminate the black or gray bars that may appear when widescreen images are wider than 16:9. In addition, a new Zoom Mode allows viewers to crop and expand 16:9 images so they fill the entire screen of a 4:3 TV, eliminating any black or gray bars.Toshiba widescreen projection models also feature a newly designed QuickConnect on-screen setup guide that makes it easier and faster for consumers to accomplish the initial set-up process, as well as the SurfLock advanced channel return feature.
