Yamaha Electronics Corporation is offering its newest flagship home theatre product, the HX series of reference home theatre speaker systems. The HX series speaker cabinets are crafted of Canadian maple hardwood veneer and finished using the same techniques as Yamaha's piano production.A die-cast aluminum waveguide is used for the drivers, while the speakers feature a long-fiber spruce material for the cones. The voice coil uses rectangular-shaped wire for optimum efficiency and minimal signal loss. Heavy gauge, high-grade European internal wiring cable is used in the HX series, and fully independent direct crossover connections are used. Yamaha's HX series also feature three-way mitered joint construction and matching aluminum die-cast cabinet feet for strength and solidity. The HX speakers are currently shipping and are available in six models, including the NS-8HX ($799 each) and NS-6HX ($599 each), three-way bass-reflex tower speaker systems; the NS-C7HX ($499 each) and NS-C5HX ($399 each), two-way acoustic suspension center speaker systems; and the NS-4HX ($399 each) and NS-2HX ($199 each), two-way bass-reflex center bookshelf speaker systems.
