API Announces Athena Technologies Audition Series

Athena Technologies' new Audition Series currently consists of five magnetically shielded full-range models plus a subwoofer. Starting at $149 per pair, there are two bookshelf models, two floor-standing speakers, including the AS-F2, and a timbre-matched center channel. Just added is the AS-P400 powered sub. With a retail price of just $599 per pair, the top-of-the-line AS-F2 is front-vented and combines a 1-inch Teteron dome tweeter with two 8-inch injection-molded polypropylene woofers. All drivers are in-house API designs and mounted in a solidly braced MDF cabinet, faced with a metal-look baffle. The rated frequency response of the AS-F2 is 35 Hz-20 kHz, +/- 3 dB, with 93 dB ""in-room"" efficiency. Recommended amplifier power is up to 250 W.The AS-F2 is 9-1/2 wide x 41-1/2 high x 15 inches deep, and weighs 51 pounds. The finish is black ash vinyl.
