Music Video Distributors and Inaukustik are pleased to announce the home viewing release of Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer - In Concert for North American distribution on DVD. Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer both share an extreme passion for the blues. Nevertheless, both men have found their own, individual ways of expressing their passion. Edgar Winter, the singer, saxophonist and keyboard player, was born on December 28, 1946, the second son of John and Edwina Winter in Beaumont, Texas. Edgar fell in love with the saxophone sound of the soul-jazz aces Cannonball Adderley and Hank Crawford, inspiring him to take up the alto sax himself. By 1970, Edgar had obtained his own recording contract and put out his debut album, entitled ""Entrance"". Since those days in the early seventies, Edgar Winter has become an established rock musician. He was a pioneer in integrating electronic effects into rock. Rick Derringer, alias Richard Zehringer, was born in Celina, Ohio, and had his first hit when he was sixteen. As lead singer and lead guitarist with the Indiana band The McCoys, he recorded their catchy hit ""Hang On Sloopy"", which topped the US charts in September 1965. In the mid-seventies Derringer set out on his own, touring regularly. In 1990, he toured again with Edgar Winter - an event recorded on ""Edgar Winter And Rick Derringer Live In Japan"". Various joint projects have followed, as well as numerous blues recordings by Derringer, such as ""Back To The Blues"" (1993) and ""Jackhammer Blues"" (2000).
