Los Angeles, California, August 5, 2002 -- 5.1 Entertainment Group which also owns the immergent, Silverline, MyUtopia and Electromatrix record labels, will lower the retail price of DVD-Audio titles from all three ofit's labels to $17.98, representing a 25% decrease, it was announced today by Jeff Dean, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing. 5.1 Entertainment's decision to lower the price of DVD-Audio is an aggressive move in the early stages of a new music format. This price drop positions a superior audio format, DVD-Audio, as comparable in price to the compact disc while offering consumers a much more enriched music experience. DVD-Audio discs have an intrinsically higher value than a compact disc in that they provide music mixed in high resolution 5.1 surround sound, while also offering a stereo mix plus bonus features such as artist commentaries,behind-the-scenes videos, photo albums, and ""easter eggs,"" and are the same price point as the CD. In addition, with over 35 million households already owning DVD players, the format also offers a far greater hardware penetration than CD did in its infancy. 5.1 Entertainment's Silverline label was the first to produce and release a DVD-Audio title, the Grammy-nominated ""Swingin' For The Fences"" by Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. Silverline Records has maintained a leadershiprole in the development, production and marketing of DVD-Audio with 70 DVD-Audio titles released to date. ""As the leader in DVD-Audio title availability, we are excited to implement this pricing strategy, which gives the consumer an exceptional value on this new high quality music format. It also provides retailers with a price pointthat competes favorably with current music pricing,"" said Jeff Dean. 5.1 Entertainment Group is a vertically integrated music company which owns the immergent, Silverline, MyUtopia and Electromatrix record labels, 5.1 Production Services and 5.1 Music Publishing.
